Microwave Oven Conclusion PLE

Microwave Oven Conclusion

Have you ever thought about how much technology has changed the way we go about our everyday lives?  When I use to hear the word technology my first thoughts were; computers, cell phones, or mobile vehicles.  As we have all learned this semester, everything is technology, from a rock used as a tool to a high-tech lab-top.  Learning about all different kinds of technology inspired me to choose to research something that no one else would, and that is why I chose the microwave oven.
My main objective and question I wanted to learn with my research is, has the invention of the microwave oven hurt of helped people more.  In 1946 the microwave oven was accidentally invented by a man called Dr. Percy Spencer.  About ninety percent of Americans have a microwave oven in their household.  There are many pro’s and many con’s of the microwave oven but what I wanted to know exactly was, is the microwave oven beneficial to society or has it brought more negative effects then expected.
After researching microwave ovens this semester I have really learned a lot.  These are some of the pro’s of the invention.  This invention has literally changed the world.  Microwave ovens have saved so much time for people across the whole world.  It has saved time for busy parents, people in a hurry, chefs, and cut prep time down a lot for cooking.  Microwave ovens have made it possible to reheat leftovers instead of wasting them.  Another very positive thing about microwave ovens is all of the job opportunities it has opened up.  Not only does it make jobs for the people who assemble the microwave ovens, it makes jobs for machinist and also for microwave repairers.
I also found many negative effects of the microwave oven.  One of the hidden dangers is radiation.  I was never sure if radiation from a microwave oven was true or just another myth, but not I know it is true.  Not only do we have to worry about radiation but we also need to be concerned about debris left behind after the microwaving process.  Loss of minerals, vitamins and proteins is another con.  Microwave ovens make food loose just about all of its nutrition.  So we are either putting unhealthy junk food in the microwave or killing the food that was once healthy.  Microwave ovens are to blame for many people obesity.  We can’t totally blame obesity on the microwave oven, but it is a contributing factor.  Microwave ovens allow us to take the easy way out, the fast way, but that is not always the best chose.
After finding all my fifteen different sources I have come to the conclusion that microwave ovens have way more negative and harmful effect then good effects.  Will that influence me to get rid of my microwave oven?  I probably wont get rid of mine, but I will for sure try to limit my use for my own safety.  This invention has advanced and changed the world.  In my eyes it has changed the world for the worst, but I must admit that it is a very convenient invention indeed.
