Sticks and rocks

It was enlightening to read about some of the first technology ever in my text book, The Axe-maker's Gift. In the past when I thought about technology the first things to pop into my head were computers, cell phones, and new cars.  Now I know technology can be any simple object that is used to do something.  In the text book it says rocks and sticks were use as tools, which makes them technology.  Everything we use is technology.  I never realized until I started this class that every minute of everyday I use technology, there is no getting away from it.

Technology

Isn't it amazing how almost every time something new is invented it also has a negative effect on the world in some way?  Technology advances to make everyday living easier for us humans, but is someone somewhere loosing out on the deal.  I wonder if technology creates as many new jobs as the jobs it takes away.

Research Round 1 Microwave Ovens! :)

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/history.html

This source is good to have because it has history about microwave ovens, and if one is to fully understand something the history of it is a must.  The microwave oven was invented in 1946 by a self taught engineer named Dc. Percy Spencer.  In my paper I would like to discuss how a simple technology, such as a microwave oven, can literally change the world, and change the way people live there everyday lives.

I chose a health journal because after the invention of the microwave oven it totally changed the way many Americans eat.  Microwave ovens took making a meal to a whole new level, cutting time in half, but at what cost.  Have Americans become overweight and unhealthy because of microwave ovens?  I chose this source because I thought it represented .....   This contributes to my paper because if the microwave oven was never invented cooking and prepping food would be very different today then it is.  In the old days most meals were prepared at home, and the average weight of human was considerably lower than it is now in 2012.

Are there hidden dangers we face from microwaving our meals.  Microwave dinners, This source has facts, which include a lot of dangers of the microwave oven.  The radiation waves, if they become worn down, having debri and food left in the microwave, all these can be potentially hazerdous.  More things I want to find out related to this topic is....
Have microwave ovens cause people to make unhealthy choices or is there even a noticeable difference?  The most popular microwave dinner sold in America is the..........  I always wondered how nutritional “T.V. dinners” really are.  According to this  study.......  these microwave dinners are quite as great as a well rounded home cooked dinner would be.

On a positive note I wanted to discuss that microwave ovens have saved busy families, chefs, children, and other people a lot of time in the kitchen.  Without this awesome invention how would we all have the time to live our busy lives, work, go to school, raise children and all the other craziness that goes on in the average Americans life.  It is so convenient to be able to reheat leftovers, make a quick snack, prep dinner from the microwave.  This source is good because it lets me explore both sides and informed me of the good things this invention has brought to the table also.
